What is a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)?

A Functional Capacity Assessment looks at how a person manages everyday activities at home, at work and in the community, including their physical, cognitive and practical function.

At River Allied Health, FCAs are completed by our experienced Senior Occupational Therapist and can help to:

  • Identify strengths, challenges and support needs

  • Guide therapy and care planning

  • Support NDIS and other funding applications or reviews

  • Inform recommendations for equipment, assistive technology, home modifications and support needs

  • Assist with return-to-work and broader functional planning

An FCA may be particularly helpful when there has been a change in function, when support needs are unclear, or when detailed evidence is needed to guide future services and supports.

To discuss whether an FCA may be appropriate for you or your client, contact River Allied Health on (08) 8586 5126.
